Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on the 19th of January, 1946, in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was born to Avie Lee Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton was a housewife and Parton is a tobacco farmer. She was on Knoxville TV at 12 years old. At the age of 13, she had a recording contract with an obscure label, and performing at the Grand Ole Opry. After having graduated from the high school in 1964, she relocated to Nashville to launch her country-singing career. Carl Dean, a asphalt-paving company owner, was her first lover. They were married on May 30, 1966. Porter Wagoner hired her in 1967 to sing on his show, The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She stayed on the show for seven years, her duets gained fame and she was a part of the group that Porter Wagoner had at the Grand Ole Opry. She also sold records and performed on tour. Her hit "Joshua" was a chart-topper. #1 in 1970 was her biggest single. She decided to do it alone and remained with the group, even though she recorded duets with him. She quit him to become a solo artist in 1974. Dolly was a popular singer/songwriter. Dolly received many Country Music Association awards (1968, 1970, 1971, 1975, and 1976). This petite (5'0") beauty was a natural on television In the mid-1970s, she was frequently appearing on talk and TV specials shows before getting her own, Dolly (1976). Dolly was awarded her first Grammy award in 1977 for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Dolly's first movie appearance was in 9-to-5 (1980) In the film, she was awarded an Oscar nomination for the title of her song and Grammy awards 2 and 3. She also received Grammy awards 2, and 3. Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, for the track "Nine to Five." Her fame grew due to her roles in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and as in Rhinestone (1984) which featured the song "Tennessee Homesick Blues". She is the CEO of Dolly Parton Enterprises, a $100 million media company, and in 1986 she launched Dollywood, a theme park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, celebrating her Smoky-Mountain upbringing. She starred in the television show Dolly (1987 TV series) as herself. She also won a Grammy in 1988 for the Best Country Performance Duo/Group with Vocals for "Trio".
